NYDC is part of the Darlington Methodist District, within the Methodist Church of Great Britain and encompasses 17 churches and chapels.

The three Church of England parishes of Aldbrough with Stanwick St John, Forcett and Melsonby make up the Stanwick Group of Churches. Each church has its own separate character.
