General information

So what do Lewes Lions get up to to raise funds and generally make ourselves useful in our community and what are you committing to if you are thinking of joining us? We meet on the first thursday of the month at St Mary's Social Club for our business meeting where we plan what inter-group events we are going to attend, what activities we want to organise to raise funds, and monitor how various projects, for example youth groups, that we are supporting in the community are doing. An important thing about all Lions groups is that they are entirely self-funded, and we do not use any of the money donated to us to find the running of the club, so at meetings and events we have fund raising activities amongst ourselves to raise money for our administration costs, such as raffles - any excuse to win a bottle of wine really! Although business meetings are for serious stuff we also have a lot of fun at them too! On the third thursday of the month there is a social meal out (optional) which is always great fun - we alternate between returning to old favorite haunts and trying out new places too. We understand that no one can commit to help at every single event we put on, so just ask that you do what you can, when you can, and between us we keep the show on the road!
