Telford Ice Rink Company Information
General information
Telford Ice Skating Club was formed over twenty five years ago by a group of parents who wanted the best skating experiences and support for their children. Twenty five years on the club is still run by parents on a voluntary basis with the on-going support of the skating coaches and the management of Telford Ice Rink to provide a supportive and friendly environment for people to learn figure skating or dance.
Our membership is made up of recreational skaters who just enjoy skating and competitive skaters. Most but not all of our skaters continue to train with the professional coaches working towards their NISA skate levels in figure skating or dance. The club is made up of skaters from the age of 6 to adult skaters.
The Club meets on Monday and Thursday evenings from 5.15 to 6.45 and the evening is divided into two categories determined by age and standard:
Junior club is for skaters who are currently skating below NISA competitive level two and is run between 5:15pm and 6:00pm.
Senior club for anyone skating at NISA Level two and above runs from 6:00pm to 6:45pm. Each club session includes a 15 minute joint group lesson with professional coaches which both senior and junior skaters join in. These take place on Mondays from 5:45pm to 6:00pm and on Thursdays from 6:00pm to 6:15pm.
Who Can Join Telford Ice Skating Club?
The idea of the club is that anyone can become a member, however, in practice this does have safety implications, so a minimum standard is required to ensure the safety of everyone on the ice.
Children who want to join Telford Ice Skating Club need to have passed at least Skate UK Level 6 or Penguin Level 9 in order to skate during club sessions and would join the Junior club. (Lessons for Skate UK and Penguins are run by the professional coaches on behalf of Telford Ice Rink and full details can be obtained from the Ice Rink.)
Anyone who skates at or above NISA Competitive Level 2 would join Senior club under the guidance of the Professional Coaches.
As a member of the club you will be able to compete in club competitions, take part in gala performances and work towards entering National Open competitions up and down the country.
You will also be able to have one-to-one lessons with one of the professional coaches at the rink. In order to have private lessons with the coaches you must be in possession of a Gold club membership or Patch card which must be used each time that you skate other than at club times. These are available from reception.
Club pricing is set by Telford Ice Rink.
