What is a Family Learning Tutor?
Parents are their child’s first educator, and they want to feel confident in this role. Being with the child most of the time, parents naturally make observations and expertly intervene to support their child’s learning and their journey through education.

Many engaged parents feel at ease supporting their child to learn about nature or the arts, but are much less confident when it comes to traditional curriculum areas, such as Maths and English. As a Family Learning Tutor, I can help.

A Family Learning Tutor will show the parent how to teach a particular area of the curriculum, providing a set of activities that is specifically created to meet their child’s learning needs. This is especially helpful for home educators who want to ensure their children are meeting educational standards.

How it works.
The initial telephone consultation is free. During this we will discuss you and your child's needs and how I might be able to help.

If you decide to proceed, I will carefully draft a personal scheme of work. This could be a six week plan of structured activities to meet a specific learning goal, or it could be a single informal workshop style session. We will then meet (with or without your child) and talk through that plan, making any necessary adjustments. My goal is to equip parents with the skills to help their own children learn. I am happy working with groups of parents or one to one. This usually costs £30 per hour.

I have a PGCE in Primary Education from the Institute of Education, with ten years’ teaching experience. I first taught in London and have more recently been supply teaching across Bristol. I can help children aged 4 to 12 years.
