General information

Established in 2011, M.D Rafferty Guitar School was set up, with the guiding principle of teaching students both young and old, how to play all of their very own favourite songs/styles on guitar in a relaxed and friendly environment.

From the start, M.D Rafferty Guitar School's commitment has been to provide the best facilities and recruit the best teachers in the business.

Our aim is to teach people of all ages what they want to learn at a price which makes our guitar lessons affordable accessible to all.

Play:

At M.D Rafferty Guitar School our expert tutors have a vast interest in great music. We teach students in a wide range of musical genres such as Pop, Blues, Jazz, Rock, Folk, Metal, Hip Hop and Reggae.

We currently have students as young as 5 years old as well as their grandparents benefitting from our teaching. Even as a beginner you can come along and use one of our "in house" instruments before you're completely convinced you want to be a musician.

At that stage our tutors will help you with advice about which instrument will suit your desired style of playing. After that, you tell us what songs/style you want to learn and we will dedicate your lessons to that goal.

Play and Sing:

It soon became evident that learning to play the guitar was just part of what many of our students desired. Yes they were keen to learn the chord sequences and rhythms of the songs they chose. But in fact, they wanted to take it one stage further, they wanted to play and sing their chosen song, they wanted to perform.

This is what makes M.D Rafferty's Guitar School unique. We will teach you:
•How to play your chosen song
•How to sing and play
•How to combine the two into a performance

Performance:

It may be to entertain friends at a party or family wedding, perform at a school assembly or concert, or take part in a talent contest or busking festival. We will teach you how to sing and play - and not just in front of your bedroom mirror.

Last year alone some of our guitar students gave performances at the Giro D'Italia, Armagh City's Food Fair, Georgian Day, Culture Night and to a packed out Market Place Theatre for our annual showcase.

After the experience gained of performing ‘Live’ you can see each student’s confidence and self esteem grow.
