Mizens Railway (Woking Minature Railway Society) Company Information
General information
Mizens railway is not so much a miniature railway but more a railway in miniature. Yes our trains and track are miniature, 71/4" gauge or 1/8 scale the standard gauge of British Railways being 4' 81/2" but everything else is full size as we members and visitors are human beings. Thankfully our miniature gauge has allowed us to lay out over a mile of track on our idyllic ten acre woodland site. The track currently offers two rides but there is more to come!
In the moire than 15 years since we moved to our new site in Barrs Lane (in 2000) we have created something very special, much has been achieved already but the project 'is still work in progress' in many ways. Apart from the railway itself, your visit will reveal railway style buildings of immense quality and authenticity. The railway atmosphere is enhanced by bits and pieces of the everyday railway scene. Perhaps the largest item is one of the famous (or infamous) SLAM DOOR COACHES saved from the scrapman's torche, now standing in its own length of full size track.
Well I have let you into our secret and you can learn much more about our railway by exploring this website which will grow in time with the railway .
However true insight can only be obtained by visiting us, and we love visitors and sharing our railway with them.
Thank you for your virtual visit and we look forward to welcoming you to the real one.
