General information

Introducing Levity:

Levity are a 4-piece band based in Brighton that incorporate a mixture of soul, rock and funk into their music. Influenced by the likes of Funkadelic, Jimi Hendrix and Red Hot Chilli Peppers, the band have been playing together for six months and have worked hard at creating an interesting and unique sound with a dynamic live act to go with it. An 8 track EP titled Cause & Effect was released in February 2017.

Members:

George Challiss - Lead Vocals

Influenced by jazz and has a particular love for Bobby McFerrin. His vocal delivery as such brings the melodic and performative aspects of soft jazz to funk and rock music. To make ends meet George has established and runs his own digital marketing company, so he is the breadwinner of the band and designated driver.

David Duce​ - Guitars and Backing Vocals

Since first learning the guitar Dave has always had a passion for the blues. Over the years, while always experimenting with and learning other styles, he has always retained a bluesy sound. As such many of the bands songs hold much of his blues style of guitar playing, even when cranked up as loud as possible. He cites his influences as Jimmy Page, Joe Bonamassa and Eddie Hazel.

George Marino​ - Bass and Keys

Having started his training in piano at the age of 11, George has had a wide range of musical training since. Having been influenced by the likes of Kool & the Gang, Funkadelic and Red Hot Chili Peppers, George has honed his years of training into The Levity to perfect their sound.

Dan Slater​ - Drums

Influenced by the likes of Jimmy Sullivan, Chad Smith and Benny Grieb. Dan has played in a variety of professional function bands since the age of 15, through which he has honed his skills. Thanks to these experiences he has brought to The Levity a technically proficient and powerful playing style.
