What is Sands Theatre Arts School?
Sands Theatre Arts School first opened its doors in 1999. Since then it has trained hundreds of young people - from the age of 7 to 18 - in the performing arts.
Sandy, the director of the school, was herself a member of a youth theatre in her teenage years. Not only did this experience leave a very positive lasting impression, but it led to a successful career in theatre. Her passion shines through in her work, as does her belief that all young people have it in them to perform.
Classes in singing, drama and dance are taught by experienced professionals, all with recent experience of the stage. The emphasis is on fun - while giving each and every child a thorough grounding in the three performing arts. The children grow in confidence, increase levels of fitness and develop their communication skills in a lively, structured and protected environment. The young people are often challenged but never isolated - this is a theatre arts school that believes and develops a strong sense of teamwork. The annual production is a particular highlight, being a golden opportunity for every individual to showcase their skills as part of an unforgettable live theatre experience.
