General information

My aim for Floor 4 is to create and manage a multi-functional space that will provide a creative and supportive environment for experimental and participatory events, charities and artists. I see this as an augmentation and aid to the other floors in Commercial Union House. I envisage the floor providing a project/performance space, lecture rooms, studios and workshop space for a broad range of creative practitioners (inc Fine Art, Craft, and professionals from other creative industries) as well as acting as a conduit for collaboration between these individuals and groups and non-arts professionals and community groups.

The project/performance space will utilize the front area of the building overlooking Pilgrim Street. One wing of the front will be dedicated to lecture rooms and five three-windowed studios. The project/performance space and lecture rooms are intended for use by groups from both within the building as well as external groups looking for space for both long and short-term projects. The back of Floor 4 would consist of studios, a joint communal area and a large kitchen with a ‘dirty’ sink for artists working in screen-printing etc.
