Angela's Body Therapy

General information

My name is Angela Barton and I have had a keen interest in sport throughout my life and I enjoy inspiring others. It was these two things that drove me to pursue a career as a personal trainer and massage therapist.

I studied with the YMCA to qualify as a Personal Trainer. The course taught me how to ensure that clients remain motivated and disciplined with their exercise regimes. I learnt about the psychological benefits of having a personal trainer to increase accountability during exercise sessions, as well as monitoring techniques that ensure clients are completing each exercise using correct technique at the appropriate intensity. I also cover healthy eating and nutrition to compliment fitness regimes and encourage weight loss.

I am also a YMCA qualified Ante and Post Natal fitness instructor. I understands the physiological and anatomical changes of pregnancy in the body and how this relates to gym or studio environments. I know how to identify cases when exercise and activity are not recommended, as well as how to maintain participant safety and respond to emergency situations.

I am an ITEC qualified holistic massage therapist, with a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology and a complete knowledge of the structure and functions of each area to work on.

Now a qualified L5 Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist where I studied with the London School Of Sports Massage. I have also taken the Sports/Deep Tissue Massage qualification with ITEC. Unlike holistic massage therapy which is used for relaxation and well being; deep tissue massage usually focuses on a specific problem such as:
Chronic pain
Limited mobility
Recovery from injuries (e.g. whiplash, falls, sports injury)
Repetitive strain injury, such as carpal tunnel syndrome
Postural problems
Osteoarthritis pain
Fibromyalgia Muscle tension or spasm

I am based in Bournemouth but operate in the wider Dorset and West Hampshire areas, including: Bournemouth, Poole, Ringwood, New Milton, Christchurch, and Wimbourne.
