The Alliance for Bakery Students and Trainees (ABST) was originally established in the 1920’s as the National Federation of Bakery Student Societies (NFBSS) and was later joined by the Institute of British Bakers (IBB) to become the NFBSS/IBB Alliance.
The name was changed in 2007 to reflect the changes in the provision of bakery training, specifically the development of work based training schemes as an alternative route into baking to the traditional College based courses.
