The Physio Clinic NI Company Information
General information
Having completed a degree in Sports Science and Health in Dublin City University in 2006, Paul proceeded to complete a Masters in Physiotherapy from Queen Margaret University Edinburgh in 2008. Following this he spent the next 8 years working both within the NHS clinical environment and also within the private sector. Pauls extensive experience within the outpatient field has strengthened his diagnostic and treatment skills in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
Kings Cross Physiotherapy in Dundee is a centre of clinical excellence where evidence based practice is at the fore. Having worked in this centre for 5 years Paul has embraced this method of treatment and has completed multiple additional training to maintain and develop this standard of physiotherapy:
- Diploma in Injection Therapy
- Foundation M-Level Accredited Acupuncture Course for Pain Management
- Credentialed in McKenzie Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy
- Orthopaedic Medicine Qualification in Peripheral Examination
- Postgraduate Masters Module in Clinical Decision Making for the Musculoskeletal Therapist
- DSE Assessor Foundation Qualification
- Spinal Manipulation Certificate
- Multiple Sports and Therapeutic Taping Courses
This training was supplemented by 2 years as lead physiotherapy for Dundee High Senior Rugby Club during his time in Scotland. He also continues to help athletes with advice and guidance in Ballydrain Harriers Running Club of which he is a member. Paul enjoys treating a variety of orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions ranging from a sprained ankle to a frozen shoulder, but has a particular interest in managing back and spinal conditions.
Paul prides himself in providing patient centred care, providing clear and precise information, a time frame for expected recovery and ensures a patient’s treatment regime is tailored specifically to each person. By providing both manual and exercise based therapy Paul enables clients to optimise their rehabilitation and allow return to sport and regular daily activities in a time effective manner without the need for multiple and repetitive treatment sessions.
Pauls undergraduate degree in Sports Science and Health adds a different dimension to his treatments with his extensive experience in Exercise Physiology, Biomechanics and Sports Nutrition and this allows him to offer additional advice on sports specific recovery methods and adjuncts to an athletes training regime to boost performance. He also specialises in workstation assessments for office based employees with issues related to their desk setup.
Overall due to Paul’s keen interest in keeping up with research and the latest evidence for best practice, he strives to only provide treatments that are researched and proven to be effective and not waste a client’s time or money simply using flash and over the top therapies.
