General information

Jem's Gem Box strives to create unique one-of-a-kind pieces of WEARABLE ART, at prices which are affordable for all.

We set out in 2010 to offer an inexpensive alternative to the then huge charm jewellery boom. Collecting a vast array of charms and component parts, Jem's Gem Box found clients were delighted with the chance to own the look without having to spend hundreds.

Within a few months, the desire to "create from the ground upwards" infiltrated and we soon began crafting handmade gemstone jewellery. Over the following 4 years, we have primarily self taught in a wide range of media, including wire, chain and scale maille, macramé, traditional silversmithing, seed beading and classic bead-stringing.

Jem's Gem Box is constantly making brand new design "boutique unique" jewellery, with precious genuine gemstones, alongside a small but blossoming range of home decor items and fashion jewellery. We are happiest when taking a beautiful nature-given gemstone and making it accessible; something that can be admired, held close, worn every day. One of our driving passions is that we love to innovate, rather than replicate; we all have to learn an art, but isn't it a thing of beauty to take that and truly make it your own?

Right now, we're developing our wirework pendants into a distinctive Jem's Gem Box style, with a wide variety of gemstones, wire combinations and price points. Each piece will be guaranteed unique. Prices start at just £20.

We love a challenge, too, and some of our most "challenging" pieces are client bespoke commissions; either with very little input, a budgetary requirement or some unusual design ideas, some of our more atypical work has been created via special request.

Whether bespoke or off-the-peg; unless otherwise requested, each item of jewellery is one-of-a-kind and our tag-line has become "Why buy mass produced low-quality poorly constructed fashion wear that 20,000 other people own, when you can wear a piece that nobody else will ever own for a very similar price.

BRACELET MASTERCLASS:

Jem's Gem Box Bespoke Bracelets can be made in many varieties:

BANGLE is a hard round wire bracelet with beads (and charms if required) that forms a solid circle, designed to slip-on over the hand.

OPEN BANGLE as before, but with the ends connected by a length of safety chain, lobster clasp or silver elastic ribbon.

THREE TURN WIRE WRAP BRACELET three twists on the wrist with spacers and beads, add a charm or dangly bead at either/both end/s, easy to wrap on and suitable for those with limited mobility/dexterity.

MACRAME WEAVE "SHAMBAMBLES" BRACELET made with waxed cotton, shiny nylon or hemp (ask what colours are available) with either letter beads, acrylic beads, glass or genuine gemstone beads, view the range in the photo album or order something JUST FOR YOU! This is my personal take on the "shamballa" bracelets that have become popular with celebrities over the last two years.

SATIN MACRAME WEAVE WITH BEAD "SHAMBIHIMO" BRACELET my own unique design, beginning with the Macrame Weave but made with the KuMiHiMo Satin so ultra luxuriant and comfortable and frankly GORGEOUS! I use main sterling silver beads at a centre focal point to these, but can use large hole gemstones or base metal European Style beads too!

FOCAL BEAD SEPARATES another "unique to Jem's" design, take a precious gemstone bead and wrap it in silver plated wire making a gorgeous centrepiece, then add interchangeable straps, mix and match your outfit or occasion, but one luxury back strap and a couple of focal beads or just one focal bead and different styles and colours of back straps ... it's all good fun!!!

ELASTIC BRACELET strung with beads and/or charms but lighter in weight with ends knotted and glued. Inexpensive and fun!

TIGERTAIL BRACELET strung with beads/charms on a 7 core steel flexible wire and ended with either a lobster clasp or a toggle closure. This is the design of "soft" bracelet used most often for gemstones.

TRADITIONAL CHARM BRACELET heavier plated chain with links large enough to fit a lobster clasp through, can have as few or as many charms as desired.

EUROPEAN CHARM BRACELET thick plated snake bracelet, with either a snap/clip or lobster closure, beads must have a large core diameter and are designed for use with this system. Normal charms can be added by way of "charm carriers" which are large-core beads with a hanging loop attached.

Beautiful Hand Beaded Jem's Design Bracelet made in your choice of colour silver lined seed bead ~ unique design means the bracelet can be worn in many ways. Labour intensive but very very fabulous! ♥

CATERPILLAR BRACELET made with genuine gemstones and leather, leatherlike or waxed cotton, almost any bead can be used (including pearls) as the beads are strung on strong nylon thread which is woven around the leather part, a very organic, almost "surfery" bracelet suitable for either gender :-)
