There are many different types of Pilates classes, including some very large ones, where you might have thought, ‘I don’t know if I’m doing this right?’
Well, the advantage of a small class, is that you will be doing it right. You will be shown how to perform the exercises correctly, you will progress and you will feel some benefit in as little as 12 weeks.
My name is Kerry Brears and I have been taught by the Modern Pilates comprehensive training method delivered by physiotherapists and clinical pilates instructors. It looks at functional stability, postural alignment, core stability and modifications of the original works of Joseph Pilates.
I played competitive sport from the age of 11, am still a keen skier, mountain biker, gardener and general outdoor enthusiast. I discovered the benefits of Pilates in keeping me mobile; and old hockey injuries at bay. Whether you are a keen sportsperson on not Pilates will make a difference to your life, you may not feel quite so creaky getting up in the morning, your balance may improve, that tummy and pelvic floor muscle will definitely be tighter and you can have fun while you do it, Cherry Baker even claims it improves your sex life!
Pilates classes are kept small (maximum 8 participants), and geared towards the needs of the students.
