General information
Samuel offers a wide range of skills and services as a maker and repairer of stringed instruments. From minor repair work and adjustments to extensive restorations, he has a wealth of experience and particularly specialises in lower strings.
Samuel started working on stringed instruments in 2002. He was employed on Saturdays and during school holidays by his local music shop (Thwaites Fine Stringed Instruments). Upon finishing A levels, he attended a three year course studying violin making and repairing at Merton College, Morden. Whilst at college, Sam kept up his part time work.
On completing his studies Samuel returned to work full time at Thwaites. In his quest to learn more about basses, he moved to work with Roger Dawson in his Deptford workshop, where he remained until February 2014.
Samuel takes great pride in his work. All jobs are finished to the highest possible standard and are tailored to suit the needs of both player and instrument.
