WHY I BECAME A HYPNOTHERAPIST

My first experience of Hypnotherapy was when I suddenly started to suffer from Tinnitus following a bad ear infection. My brain was full of noise and I felt like I had a wasps nest inside my head. I could not sleep, I could not concentrate, I could not do anything properly. My Doctor and subsequently the Consultant could find no obvious problem and put it down to age and too much Led Zeppelin as a teenager. I was basically told to go away and get on with it. I tried many alternative remedies in a desperate attempt to get rid of the noises – none of which worked. Finally someone suggested Hypnotherapy and in desperation I gave it a try. Within three sessions my Tinnitus improved significantly and while it has not been completely cured, I have got my life back and can sleep and function normally.

Move forward a couple of years and I decided that I needed to make changes to my life. I was extremely overweight, did no exercise and my health was beginning to suffer. I had tried many diets, none of which worked – I simply liked my food too much. With the help of Hypnotherapy combined with eating sensibly I lost over 5 stone and several years later I have managed to keep that weight off. I am now running 30-40 miles a week, whereas before I lost weight 30-40 feet would have been the most I could manage.

I then made the decision that I wanted to change my career. Fed up with the rat race I realised that I wanted a to do something that helped people make changes to their own lives. From my personal experience Hypnotherapy seemed an obvious, interesting and exciting possibility. In a twist of fate, that might be put down to serendipity, I then received a phone call from the Hypnotherapist who had helped me, saying that he was organizing courses to deliver professional qualifications in Hypnotherapy “Professional Hypnotherapy & Hypnosis Training” and was I interested? The rest as they say is history and I now hold a General Qualification In Hypnotherapy Practice (GHP) and a Diploma in Professional Hypnotherapy & Hypnosis (DPHH) along with additional certification in Hypnotherapy for Pain Relief and Hypnosis for Sports Performance Enhancement. I am registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register “GHR” and the Complimentary & Natural Healthcare Council “CNHC” and am accredited by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council “GHSC“.
