Newham Cricket Club

General information

Our primary aim is to offer local people the opportunity to become members of a cricket club at affordable rates regardless of age, disability, race, sexual orientation, religious belief, ability and gender. Our long-term goal is to become a socially vibrant cricket club, which includes a disability team, youth and adult teams of both sexes. We intend to create and implement a systematic programme to identify and develop the potential of Newham residents of all ages and abilities. Newham Cricket Club offers members the opportunity to develop positive self-esteem and realise core life values through playing cricket.

We now have two adult squares which doubles our capacity. It means we have the facilities to qualify for the Shepherd Neame Essex Premier League when there is a vacancy. We know we already have the talent. This year each of our four colts’ teams was pipped at the last four knock out entry stage either by the weather or the usual eccentric decisions. Our adult first team led the Essex County Cricket Premier Division until the last match against the bottom team who conjured up a record-breaking 320 runs before rain stopped play. Our second team also led all season and have been promoted to the First Division.

We are fortunate to be located in a cricketing centre of excellence with powerful partners in, amongst others, Brampton, Langdon and Nelson primary schools, Brampton Manor and Langdon secondary schools, Newvic and Newham College and University of East London.
