General information

Pexava Dance Company was founded by Shelley Cook and Gil Prado Mendez to provide top quality Salsa in London. We run weekly classes, socials and intensive courses, and we perform and teach throughout Europe and the rest of the world at Professional World Championship level. Our aim is to help salsa dancers of all levels to develop to the best of their ability and to have lots of fun in the process. We focus heavily on technique and are known worldwide for our professionalism and passion.
Together as Pexava Dance Company, which means “Lightning Fast” in Mayan from Gil’s native Mexico, husband and wife Gil and Shelley are an explosive combination on stage and inspire students of every level in their lessons. They are the only salsa couple in the UK to have both competed and placed in major World Championship competitions. Named as “The UK’s Best Salsa Performers”, they have appeared on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, are credited Feature Dancers in "Cuban Fury" the movie, have appeared on the catwalk at Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model, are salsa consultants for “Matilda” the Musical, and recently made it through to the Judges’ Shortlist on Sky One’s "Got To Dance", winning 3 gold stars.
