Stars Theatre Arts School

General information

Stars Theatre Arts School is a family run school, based in South West Sheffield established in September 2000.

Pupils are taught the three main aspects of stagecraft - Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre.

Classes are fun and pupils are encouraged to be creative, regarding their lessons as a hobby, whilst learning technique and developing self-discipline. The emphasis is on the whole child and focuses on promoting self esteem and confidence through improvisation and free expressive movement. Pupils engage in both individual and group work, helping them to co-operate with others and build long lasting friendships.

Classes are held on Saturdays and work is for both exams and shows.

Stars classes are held at two different venues:

Little Stars - This 45 minute class caters for our youngest performers aged 3 - 5 years and follows the AAD syllabi for Ballet, Tap and Mime. This involves Free Expressive Movement and Musical Theatre and creativity is encouraged. Children are not entered for exams at this stage.

Starlets - This one hour class follows the AAD syllabi for Ballet, Tap and Modern and LAMDA syllabi for Musical Theatre and Drama. Children progress to the stage where they are able to take group exams, but the main focus is still on having fun! Pupils move into this class when they are aged 5 or 6 years.

Drazza-ma-Danze - This is an exciting, jam-packed hour and a half and covers all the theatre arts. Pupils can take group and individual exams in Ballet, Tap and Modern with AAD and Drama and Musical Theatre exams with LAMDA. This is for children who are at Junior School.

Drama-a-go-go - This class focuses on Drama and Musical Theatre with 45 minutes on each. Pupils can take individual and group exams with LAMDA. This is for senior age.

Dancing Divas - A 45 minute class of Ballet, Tap and Modern. The class follows the AAD syllabi and pupils can take exams. This is for senior age.
