• Who are we?

The Georgina Weston Dance Academy was founded in September 2009 under the care of the principal Georgina Weston. Our school sets to provide the students with enjoyable, educational classes, where the teachers pass on their love and years of study to inspire and nurture the mould of the new 21st Century dancers.

The schools founding principal is to ensure we offer a friendly, nurturing environment, but with the sufficient level of discipline in order to progress all our students to their own individual level; whether that’s building up to learning how to pirouette, or developing on to a professional vocational dancing career.

Georgina grew up in Devon where she started baby ballet classes at the age of 2 ½ . Growing up through the RAD grades at the Linda Mortimore School of Dance Georgina discovered her love and desire for Classical ballet and expanded her dance genres so also studying tap, modern and Jazz under the ISTD qualified teacher, Ryan Moore.

In 2005 Georgina successfully auditioned for the Royal Academy Of Dance and left Devon to take up full time vocational training at the RAD in London. During the intensive 3 year training course Georgina developed personally as a dance artist, as well as expanded her knowledge and understanding in order to complete all her teaching qualifications. During the early summer months Georgina studied and completed the RAD’S licentriate programme allowing her to enter all ages and levels of students for exams and training.

Since qualifying Georgina has worked as a freelance dance teacher, working for Chelsea Ballet school, The Arts Educational School Saturday school, and at Thomas’s school in Battersea. In September 2009 Georgina was given the opportunity to take over and found The Georgina Weston Dance Academy in Orpington and has been working to grow and improve the school ever since.

I started dancing at the age of 3 at a stage school, training in Ballet, Tap and Modern dance. At 18 I studied at the London College of Dance for 3 years where I gained my teaching qualifications. After graduating I was in a professional dance group performing at various London venues including Sadlers Wells and we also toured around Europe. I then taught at several ballet schools and a Primary School in South London.

In 1996 I opened my own dancing school based in Beckenham and Shortlands and ran this until I took a career break in 2006. I recently decided to return to teaching and am happy to have joined The Georgina Weston Dance Academy in January 2010 and I hope to continue teaching here and helping the students to progress further for many more years to come.
