Rosyth Foodbank Company Information
General information
The Dunfermline Foodbank was initially started by John Drylie and Ian Hepburn. Through their work as Street Pastors, they were challenged to find a new way to make a big impact on the people in their community. In collaboration with local agencies, churches, and volunteers, the Dunfermline Foodbank opened in September 2012, and has helped over 2000 people in the Dunfermline Community.
Since then, the Dunfermline Foodbank have since established “Satellite” Foodbanks; smaller, mini-foodbanks that serve people in the West Fife Villages. The Satellites are still overseen by the Dunfermline Foodbank Management Team, but run on a day-to-day basis by people from their own community. The first Satellite opened in Rosyth in October 2013, and three more are in development.
Dunfermline Foodbank is one of many foodbanks from the Trussel Trust community. It aims to be a place to provide food to those in crisis. The Dunfermline Foodbank works on a voucher system, which are distributed by their local partner organisations. As of December 2013, the Dunfermline Foodbank has 65 partner organisations.
If you are in crisis, and need a helping hand with food, toiletries and toilet roll, please get a voucher before you come to the Foodbank. You can get a voucher from any of our partners: Health Visitors/District Nurses, Social Workers, Support Workers, Job Centre, Citizens Advice and Rights Fife, and Scottish Welfare Fund. If you need further information on how to get a voucher, please email dunfermlinefoodbank@gmail.com, or call 07580 231 286. Once you get a voucher, come to the Foodbank closest to where you live, and we'll help you out.
If you would like to donate to the Foodbank, either food, toiletries, or cash, please take your donation to the Distribution Centre, which is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 4pm to 6pm. Its located just round the corner from the Dunfermline Centre, no 78 Elgin Street Industrial Estate in Dunfermline.
