We offer a personalised and warm haircutting experience with a queer and trans friendly attitude. We seek to promote the diversity of identities in society, and celebrate people’s appearance in the way they wish to be seen. Anyone is welcome, including friends. We aim to make Open Barbers are welcoming space to hang out in, with a range of teas, fanzines and biscuits to make you feel at home.

Open Barbers started in March 2011, building on hairdressing skills and experience developed by Greygory Vass and Klara Vanova over the last decade. Now Co-Directed by Greygory Vass and Felix Lane, Open Barbers is growing from strength to strength, testament to the power of self organising for queer communities and the ongoing need for creating gender respectful spaces.

Open Barbers has participated in numerous events, including Utopian Pulse: Flares in the Darkroom (Secession Gallery, Vienna), Duckie Mods vs Rockers (Brighton), Figs In Wigs Hi-Brow (London), Tramfrau Midsummer Party (Brighton), Cabaret Wotever at Scala (London), Buzzcut Festival 2014 (Glasgow), SEEP: Fluidity in Body and Landscape (Edinburgh), Scottee’s CAMP New Year’s Eve (London), Eat Your Heart Out (London), Duckie Goes To The Gateways (London), Fringe Film Fest 2013 (London), Smithsfest (London), Shout Festival 2013 (Birmingham), and Latitude Festival 2012 (Suffolk).
