Inspire Community Garden

General information

Members of the community group Transition Chesterfield started the search for a site for a demonstration organic garden following permaculture principles in the summer of 2015. We found a site which lies between the Westfield Allotments, off Ashgate Road, and the Fairplay Children’s Charity Garden off Alexandra Road West near to Chesterfield town centre and so began ‘The INSPIRE COMMUNITY GARDEN’.
We are turning what was wasteland into a very productive and informative garden where the town and the community can benefit in a variety of ways.
Why don’t you join us on the journey?
Our garden offers opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to get involved in working the land, growing food and developing a sense of community. In addition the site will offer many other opportunities for the community and visitors to witness demonstrations of more sustainable living in the wider sense.
Our first working day on the land was on Sunday 17th April 2016 when we began clearing the top section of the site. Over the weeks our garden becomes more sustainable and impressive as new features are built.
