General information

Simon was born in Lancashire where, as a member of the Scout Movement, he spent many long and happy formative hours, camping and exploring the moors and hills. These experiences were the foundation of an abiding passion for the outdoors that runs through his life.
Simon continues to support the Scout Movement, with over 20 years adult service as a volunteer Leader. In this capacity, Simon has enjoyed various roles, including acting as County Nights Away Advisor, providing training, assessment and mentoring for in excess of 800 adults across East Lancashire.
Simon mixes his passion and enjoyment for the outdoors with the fulfilling work that people development brings. With qualifications and experience in a variety of outdoor activities, he appreciates and understands the feeling of trying things for the first time. Furthermore, as a qualified teacher, specialising in Special Educational Needs and Behaviour Management, Simon understands better than most, the benefits that outdoor education can bring to young people.
His work with a wide range of client types has allowed him to develop an approach, which, whilst ensuring the right degree of challenge is met, supports delegates through the initial experience and onwards into the learning and transfer aspects of the training. His varied background, in both public and private sectors, brings with it a wealth of knowledge and broader understanding of a number of industries and business departments.
Simon’s organised and thoughtful approach to learning and development is reflected in his approachable style. He prides himself on being a ‘people person’ and as such is able to unlock the potential in everyone. His areas of specialisation are varied but include team development and leadership, archery, air rifles and bushcraft.
