Changing Space: Psychotherapy and counselling

General information

Therapy is a process that carries within it the potential to change people's lives, to enable them to feel and behave more effectively and to find great fulfilment in themselves and in their relationships. These are not words I say lightly but are born from my own experience, both professionally and personally.

In the course of our life we can all face times of tragedy, of heartbreak, of challenging experiences. Or we can experience loneliness, depression, a loss of our sense of ourselves, or even despair. We question fate or faith, we can feel burdened by our past, overwhelmed by the present and fearful of the future. Most of all, we can question ourselves. What I have learnt, what I work with clients to help them realise too, is that there are answers; there are always silver linings to the darkest of clouds, seams of gold in the darkest recesses. There is choice and the potential for change.

The men and women I work with have sometimes simply sought an experienced, non-judgemental person to listen to them and to hear them, someone to witness their hurt, anger or fear. Or they have needed, for a period of time, a place to go where they feel safe, valued and respected enough to be honest, to be vulnerable, to talk about their experiences and process the hardships or dilemmas they are facing and, crucially, to find a way forward. They have all sought a space in which to change, to heal, and to recover. And it is this, a space together with my experience and guidance, that I offer to those seeking therapy.

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist and counsellor registered with the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). In addition to my private practice in Banbury, I work at Oxford Women's Counselling Centre and Northampton Counselling Service. Previously I have worked in a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre and for the Samaritans.
