Heidi's Cakes

General information

I have been baking since I was a Brownie and I can remember being so proud for earning by cooking badge when I was about 8 or 9. I always baked with my mum who is an amazing baker. I have always raided her kitchen for fruit cake or home made biscuits. The love for cake has always been in me. I would argue with my cookery teachers at school because they would try to show me how to do different techniques but I was happy with my own as I could make a victoria sponge and proudly get it from the oven all golden brown and perfectly risen. I refused to learn to do these lessons as I found them tedious and very boring. For everyone who knows me will tell you I learn from consequence and I am awfully stubborn so being in a kitchen at school was a no no. I left school and wanted to work in the hairdressing industry as I was secretly crafty. I loved to sew, and I had a passion for hair and creative colouring. I did my training but my path took me in another direction. Boyfriend equals Baby and that equalled another baby then boyfriend became husband...Yep you've got it. I had a family to look after. So I stopped being creative and to earn a crust I learned to book-keep and I still do this today. But as the years went on and I still baked for my kids. (My husband wasn't a lover of cake) I grew more and more in love. I had to stop for a while as work and other changes in my life took over and I would only make a few cakes or a millionaires shortbread if I was asked to. But as the kids got older I got bored and I mean very bored. So I dug out my apron and my mixer and started making cupcakes. I cringe when I think of my early creations as I had never piped buttercream only blobbed it into the middle of fairy cakes but with practice it happened. I was more in love than I was before! I started to get ADDICTED and I was watching fabulous tutorials on youtube and following some of the best cake decorators there are all so I could learn. And boy I have learned. But this time I haven't had a grumpy home ec' teacher moaning at me or me swearing at her cos I didn't agree with the way she had done something. I have done this for me. My kids and their friends have always called me 'MummaCake' and it has stuck...
So now after learning so much I want to share with everyone my cakes and branch out.
I can make 3d cakes, wedding cakes, baby shower cakes the list is endless. If you have an idea I will CAKE IT!! Don't be shy just pm me and if there's anything you want to ask, just ask me. I promise the only thing I bite is cake ;)
