General information
LGBT Melton is a youth support project for 11-18 year olds who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and live in Melton Mowbray and surrounding areas including Syston and Thurmaston. We provide advice, information and guidance on issues such as sexual health, discrimination, education, employment, relationships and mental health.
This idea and development of this project has come about from listening to the young people of Melton Mowbray who identify as LGBT+. I have worked with the young people of Melton Mowbray for 4 years in various roles. I have supported a number of young people who have issues and concerns around there sexuality, gender, orientation and any related issues including discrimination, bullying, family issues, relationship breakdown, homelessness and mental health issues. It was bought to my attention that there was no support in the local area for the LGBT+ community, specifically young people.
