General information

A Counsellor & Psychotherapist in the Great Barr Area of Birmingham who offers a confidential, warm, accepting & empathetic environment for you to explore & work out any feelings & emotions you may wish too in my own private therapeutic practice.

I offer a safe, non-judgmental, empathetic and understanding place for to you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions as well as be there for you to manage these in a safe and confidential environment at my private practice in Great Barr, Birmingham. I do also offer home visits if required too but can be discussed on initial assessment session.

My primary approach is Person-Centred which means I will listen to you without any judgment and explore the world you perceive in a safe and tentative way adhering to professional and ethical boundaries set by the BACP, so that you have the time and space to work out what you need to, in the knowledge that whatever you say is will be fully confidential.

I have a Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy of which I studied at the University of Warwick. The course required me to take on placement work throughout, giving me the experience I required to become a qualified counsellor. I have continued to volunteer at one of my placements, John Taylor Hospice as one of their Bereavement & End of life Counsellors and am very proud to be a part of the team.

I also have a keen interest in contact work / Pre therapy, working with impairments and disabilities with in all ages as well as group and mindfulness of which I am studying continually. Although I do also work integratively at times, with a combination of CBT and Psychodynamic approaches, we can tailer the counselling to suit your needs and aims of the work we do together. I also work with emotion card therapy.

I offer the first session at half the price of a full session as I believe it is important for you to fee safe and secure with the counselling process and the surroundings be it for short or long term. The first session will also have an assessment process to identify needs and appropriate support.

Once you are happy to continue with a second session, we can set goals or even just see where the therapy takes us over the time you choose.

First session is at half the price of continued session including an individual assessment to help understand what is need for you.
Continued sessions are charged as follows:

Session fees are £40 or £35 concession per 50/60 minute session. The fee for couple counselling is £50 per 50/60 minute session. Fees are reviewed yearly and any changes take effect on 1st Jan and apply to new or renewed contracts.

Cancellations: If for any reason I have to cancel a session I will aim to provide you with 48 hours’ notice, and you will not be charged for the session. When possible I will try to offer you an alternative time. Likewise, I will expect you to give me 48 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend. I will follow up with you typically within 24 to 48 hours of the missed appointment. In an instance where no or insufficient notice is given on your part, I reserve the right to charge £10 for the first instance and 50% of the session fee for further instances.
