Our name sake, Dr Marie Stopes, opened the UK's first family planning clinic, the Mothers' Clinic in Holloway, North London on 17th March 1921.

In 1925, the clinic moved to Whitfield Street in Central London, where it remains today. In 1973, our founder, visionary doctor Tim Black, stepped in to save the Marie Stopes Clinic in central London from which our clinic network grew.
