Futon Campus Company Information
General information
The Earliest Futons The ancient China India and the subcontinent used cotton mattresses for beds and do. The Japanese use of the cotton mattress forms a multi-functional use especially convenient in homes where often comprised of a couple of multi-purpose great rooms. This facilitated a room in a traditional Japanese to be transformed into a bedroom as necessitated. The futons could be rolled and stored away with ease. Their durability meant they were in use over many years. The simple design and concept ranks among the most environment friendly comfortable health-promoting bed types in the world. In 1986 The Futon Campus was formed with an objective to develop completely new range of casual furniture with a raw feel and highly durable functional furniture. During the next decade many highly innovative models were developed; since have bee copied by virtually all major outlets such as Ikea etc. to a lower standard. We continue with major innovations always maintaining the robust raw feel in solid pine and avoiding 'gloss' touch.... back to basics! All our products are made in UK employing UK based skilled people and make a conscience effort to promote other UK manufactures.
