Direct Car Excess Insurance

General information

When you hire a car, the rental price will usually include insurance which covers you for accidents (Collision Damage Waiver/CDW) and theft (Loss Damage Waiver/LDW). However, if your rental car is damaged or stolen, you may still have a large excess to pay.

When you collect your rental car, the rental company may offer their own additional insurance which will reduce your excess to zero. However, this could be very expensive and may only be available at the rental counter.

Buying ahead with Direct Car Excess Insurance provides the peace of mind that your excess charges will be reimbursed if you have an accident or if your car is stolen. What’s more, we also cover you for damage to tyres, the windscreen, windows and the undercarriage which are usually excluded from the rental companies insurances.

As with many insurance policies, there are some countries and certain types of vehicles that we are unfortunately unable to cover. These are listed on our website. Please also note that our policies do not cover mechanical or electrical breakdown and drivers must be aged 21 to 85.
