General information
The Federation was the brainchild of Anne Wood, originator of "The Teletubbies" and "In the Night Garden", over 40 years ago. Our main role is to act as an umbrella organisation for the local autonomous Children's Book Groups around the U.K. The Groups organise a variety of book-related activities for children in their localities, often in conjunction with their local schools and libraries, including bringing authors and illustrators to meetings and storytelling sessions. The Federation produces a regular Newsletter and numerous specialist booklists. Also, we organise National Share-a-Story Month each year in May and National Non-Fiction November, we hold an Annual Conference in the Spring, and we own and coordinate the FCBG Children's Book Award.
