Grizedale Company Information
General information
Red Kites were reintroduced into Grizedale Forest in the summer of 2010, as part of a three year programme. 30 chicks were released in August 2010, followed by a similar release in 2011 and 2012.
Forestry Commission staff are now working with a number of volunteers to monitor the birds especially their nesting and breeding activity around the Grizedale area.
This page is designed to share news of the birds and for reports of sightings from the members of the public - please share any sightings you have, ideally including a grid reference and note of the colour of any wing tag you can see. All sightings we have from this page are added to our database and will help us understand more about how the population is establishing.
