Assisi Animal Sanctuary

General information

Founded in 1997, Assisi Animal Sanctuary is Northern Ireland’s largest independent animal welfare charity, providing shelter for up to 200 companion animals including dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, rabbits and guinea pigs.

All animals are neutered, vaccinated, wormed and de-flead and all our dogs and cats are microchipped prior to rehoming. Assisi operates a strict rehoming criteria to ensure our rescue animals find the best possible home. Assisi is committed to providing an excellent quality of life for our animals no matter what their age or state of health.

We are open 6 days a week excluding Christmas Day, New Years Day and the 12th July.

Please note access to the animal housing area is reduced to staff and volunteers working on site. Visitors wishing to adopt a pet and groups of visitors will only have access when accompanied by a member of staff or volunteer.

Those wishing to adopt will be directed to our rehoming suite where you will complete your application form and receive undivided attention from a member of staff. If you wish to visit us on Saturday or Sunday please phone to book an appointment to complete your application form.

Groups wishing to tour the site will be prearranged as normal. Individual tours which have not been organised may take place subject to staff or volunteers being available to accompany you around the site.

Opening Hours: Tuesday – Sunday 11am – 4pm

Rehoming applications: Tuesday – Sunday 11am- 3pm (Saturday and Sunday by appointment only due to high volume of visitors.)

Dog Walking times: Tuesday- Sunday 11am-3pm (Monday by arrangement)

Please note that weekends are more popular for dog walkers so availability may be restricted especially for child friendly dogs.
