Buttle UK

General information

Every year Buttle UK delivers around 12,000 emergency essentials―children's beds, cookers, fridges, washing machines―to young people and families who, without our support, would otherwise have to go without. Families who, through no fault of their own, are in situations where they cannot afford to pay for these items themselves even with the support of statutory funding. Common reasons why we help include disability, domestic violence, homelessness, ill mental health and estrangement.

In some cases we can pay towards school fees for a child or young person who, if they didn't attend independent or boarding school, would be at risk of going into formal care.

We also perform our own research, which has led to the creation of many successful projects including the Buttle UK Quality Mark for Care Leavers: a mark of recognition to help care leavers attain higher education and for institutions to recognise care leavers' needs. This project won Buttle UK the 2011 Charity Education Award and has now been accepted in 100 Universities and many other FE and HE institutions throughout the UK.

Through all of this our mission is to provide those in poverty with a lifeline to help themselves out of deprivation and provide practical solutions that give children a fighting chance in life.
