General information

The Harvesting Opportunity Permit Scheme was founded in 1989 as a department of the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs (England & Wales) (NFYFC) with a primary aim of providing youth experience to students from Eastern Europe through work placements with UK employers in the agriculture and horticulture industries. HOPS became over time a vital source of labour for the employers it worked with and by 2004 it become clear its primary function was to provide labour. HOPS became HOPS Labour Solutions in 2005 to better reflect its role as a labour provider. 2014 sees significant expansion of the business into 3 distinct departments:

Labour – Continuation and growth of the labour provision for agriculture and horticulture in the UK, with expansion into Northern Europe through our Polish Office.

Recruitment – HOPS is one of the leading recruitment specialists for UK agriculture and horticulture, finding stockmen, sprayer drivers, agricultural engineers, fabricators, fitters, and fork lift drivers.

Education – HOPS holds City and Guilds accreditation for the delivery and provision of apprenticeships throughout the UK with delivery through local Further Education facilities.

HOPS remains wholly owned by the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs, with all share capital being held by the Trustees of the Federation.
