At each consultation your teeth, gums and mouth will be carefully examined to ensure you are in good oral health. After the examination we will discuss with you any requirements you may have and offer advice on how to protect your teeth going forward.

Depending on the condition of your teeth and your previous dental treatments your dentist will usually recommend a dental check-up at least twice a year

Hygenist Service

Dental hygienists meticulously clean patients’ teeth and are specially trained to provide deep and highly effective removal of plaque. This is an essential part of protecting your oral health and ensuring you have strong teeth for life.

Regular visits to the hygienist helps prevent periodontal (gum) disease, bleeding gums and dental decay. Your hygienist will also provide advice on diet and the most effective ways of preventing dental decay. With careful attention you will not be one of the 19 out of 20 people who suffer from gum disease at some point in their life.

You may need urgent treatment if you have:

toothache or swelling that suggests an infection of a tooth or gum
severe toothache or facial pain which is not controlled by taking over-the-counter painkillers
trauma of the face, mouth or teeth after a recent accident or injury
a permanent tooth being knocked out
bleeding after tooth extraction that you cannot control
serious swelling of the mouth or face which is getting worse

Dental Implants

Dental implants offer a permanent solution for your missing teeth. A dental implant is essentially a substitute for a natural root and commonly it is screw or cylinder shaped. Each implant is placed into a socket carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth. Often the implant can be placed at the same time as removal of the tooth, all on the same day.

If an implant has a screw-thread on its outer surface it can be screwed into position and if it does not, it is usually tapped into place. The main aim during installation of any implant is to achieve immediate close contact with the surrounding bone. This creates an initial stability, which over time is steadily enhanced by further growth of bone into microscopic roughnesses on the implant surface.

In order to support replacement teeth, dental implants normally have some form of internal screw thread or post space that allows a variety of components to be fitted. Once fitted, these components provide the foundation for long-term support of crowns, bridges or dentures.
