Home-Start Ealing

General information

A registered charity, Home-start recruit and train volunteers who work with families in need, providing non practical judgement and emotional support in order to help build confidence and an ability to cope.

The families we support experience some type of stress or difficulty which could include; isolation, bereavement, domestic violence, illness, disability or poverty.

Since its launch in 1995, Home-Start Ealing has supported more than 1800 families in the borough.

Home-Start also runs family groups which provide a supportive environment for parents and their children and offer the chance to learn new skills, meet people and experience new things. We also offer parenting classes and a programme of trips and extra events for our families.

A third of families referred to Home-Start Ealing who were on the child protection register or who were subject to a child protection plan came off with volunteer support.

I currently have a Home-Start Ealing Volunteer, Helen, visit me in my home weekly. I am a single mother with a son of one. Recently I was diagnosed with cancer. This meant I had to undergo 5 months of chemotherapy plus cope with this devastating diagnosis. It has been harder than I could ever describe.
Helen has been a great support. I can share with her how my treatment is going and my fears and hopes. When my son is settled Helen spends time with him reading him stories and playing with him.
I look forward to seeing Helen and my son is happy and comfortable when spending time with her.

I am a mother of twins and because I was abused I went to refuge. When I was at the refuge I heard about Home-Start Ealing and decided to get in touch with them. I was referred to the family group. When I came to the group my babies had a great time and myself too. I really feel peace coming here, getting out for some time and having fun. I am thankful for finding you.
