General information

We're a local community of people of all ages and backgrounds who meet to learn from the Bible about faith in Jesus Christ. We think that our meetings are emotionally engaging, appropriately informal and culturally relevant. We hope that you’ll think so too. If you want to find out more, come and visit us. We love to welcome newcomers to CCB.

But before you come, it’s worth knowing that:

1. We’re not a big church.

Not yet anyway. Perhaps never. That’s in God’s hands. But we’re not small either. We used to be. When we started in 2002 we were 20 adults. But wonderfully God has grown us. Typically our morning congregation is 40-50 adults and 30 children and our evening meeting is 70 adults. We’re trying to grow because we recognise that there are thousands of people in our local area who have yet to hear the good news about Jesus Christ in language that they can understand.

2. We’re not a traditional church.

We respect tradition greatly. But we recognise that traditional church doesn’t work for everyone. We want to provide a home for those that don’t do traditional church. And so we meet in a school hall not a church building. There’s a band leader, a band and contemporary songs not a choir accompanied by an organ. No one wears robes and our liturgy is at the unstructured end of the Common Worship spectrum.

3. We’re not a perfect church.

If you join us, as we hope you will, it probably won’t take you long to work out where we’re going wrong. We make lots of mistakes. Most of the time they’re not deliberate. But we’re a work in progress. You’ll soon discover that the real hero at CCB is not any one of us, but the Lord Jesus Christ.
