Streatham Youth Centre Company Information
General information
SYCT Streatham Youth and Community Trust was established in 1946 to meet the needs of local young people. This remains at the heart of what we do, over 60 years later.
We deliver a wide range of activities, projects and services which all in some way work towards reducing social isolation, increasing confidence, developing skills, nurturing friendships and supportive relationships and bringing the community together.
We provide high quality play and youth services from three locations in Streatham and support other local groups and organisations through the provision of high quality facilities.

HOMEWORK CLUB
The Homework Club is for young carers & children from Streatham primary schools. The club provides high quality academic support with homework by qualified tutors and youth workers in a comfortable and supportive environment. We pick up from school, provide a snack and drop off home.
SPECIAL NEEDS GROUP
We provide the same activities as all the other clubs but with highly trained staff for special needs. The staff provides the members with a boost in self-esteem, life and socialising skills.
THIRD PARTY SERVICES
SYCT also runs many other classes from third party instructors (Zumba, Pilates, Street Dance for young people and adults, Freestyle Dance for children, Whizzdance, Group Guitar Lessons and Escrima Lessons). For more information call our main office at Wellfield Centre.
THIS GIRL CAN PROJECT
It is an exciting time of growth for our charity and we have employed a new Community Sports Activator, Cherrell Albert (Chez), who will oversee the project.
Chez’s main focus will be to get girls and women aged 14 – 25 more active and taking part in regular sports and physical activity. She will do this in several ways – through delivery of sports and physical activity sessions yourself, through organising external coaches to deliver sports and physical activity sessions from SYCT facilities, through delivering in schools and other sports and youth club venues and through organising sports pop up events. We will be employing a Community Sports Apprentice in Spring 2016.

The Club is for Parents/Carers and children ages 0-5 years old and is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 12-3pm. John Massingham, new manager of both the Adventure Playground and One O'clock Club said: 'we are delighted to offer this service to local families. It is up and running and already parents and children are dropping by. The building is completely refurbished.'
ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND
The service will run alongside the longstanding Adventure Playground, which runs Monday, Wednesday 3:30-6:30pm and Saturday 12-4pm.
