General information
Kingston Museum was built in 1904 and restored in 1992-1997. The collections tell the story of Kingston from its ancient beginnings to the modern day Royal Borough.
Ancient Origins Gallery: Discover Kingston's past from the Palaeolithic Period through to the Pagan Saxon period. Flint artefacts from the Thames, Bronze weaponry dating from 900BC, Roman coins and a Pagan Saxon human burial are all features of this gallery.
Town of Kings Gallery: Trace the history of Kingston's people and its Royal connections from when the seven Anglo-Saxon Kings were crowned through to more recent events including the Second World War and Kingston's development as a shopping destination.
Eadweard Muybridge Gallery: Find out more about the work of Muybridge - a Kingston born photographer who gave his work as a bequest to Kingston Museum. Exhibits include examples of his equipment, landscape and animal in motion photographs.
The Art Gallery is where most of the lectures and events take place and where the Temporary Exhibitions are displayed. Check out the events section of our Page to find out more about what's happening.
The Museum Shop stocks local interest history books, souvenirs and greeting cards, hand crafted items and pocket money toys.
