The Stage Door Company Information
General information
There has been a public house at the corner of Webber street and Gray street since at least 1665. Samuel L Pepys, famous for his personal dairy of London life in the 1660’s, mention The Stage Door in a 1665 entry. It was then know as the Half-the-Way Inn as it was welcome to stop when traveling from Westminster crossing at Stangate to London Bridge. The Pub later changed its name to the Halfway House. Since 1985 it has been know as The Stage Door.
The Pub was rebuild in late 19th century. It survived the blitz by a narrow escape when a night time bomb fell on the opposite side of the road.
The Stage Door has become a relaxed and friendly pub where patrons can wind down after a busy day in the office. They come here simply to enjoy a pint in cosy surroundings or on match days to watch they favourite team on Sky. In the summer they come for the amazing roof terrace-the perfect way to catch some early evening sunshine.
