Connaught Hall Company Information
General information
Connaught Hall was established by the Duke of Connaught in 1919, at Torrington Square; he gave the Hall to the University of London in 1928, and it moved to its present location – a splendid Georgian terrace with a Grade II listed façade overlooking Tavistock Square gardens – in 1961.
The Hall accommodates 230 full-time students of the various colleges and institutes of the University; the majority are first-year undergraduates. There is an even mix of men and women, and a great diversity of cultural and social backgrounds. Most accommodation is in single study-bedrooms with shared toilet and shower facilites, but there are also five twin rooms, seventeen single en suite rooms, two en suite double rooms (for couples), and a two-bedroom flat. Amenities include: dining hall, laundrette, common rooms with TV including FreeSat, computer room, library, private courtyard garden, and a bar managed and staffed by Hall residents. Every room has telephone and high-speed internet connections.
