The University Women's Club Company Information
General information
The University Women’s Club dates back to 1883 when a group of exceptional women, headed by by Gertrude Jackson of Girton College, Cambridge got together to found a Club.
Today the tradition continues and membership is restricted to high achieving women working across industry, government and academia.
The Club occupies a grade II listed building, designed in 1880 by T.H. Wyatt, with distinctive red brick and pink sandstone, together with Queen Anne and Flemish detailing. It has some noteworthy reception rooms. On the ground floor there is a classical-style dining room with its own garden, and a large reception area with a bar where members can enjoy snacks and drinks throughout the day. On the first floor there is an exceptional wood-paneled library, which is often used as the backdrop for films or television programmes. Adjoining it is an elegant reception room which can also be rented out to non-members for functions.
The Club organises regular events for its members covering a wide range of topics and featuring speakers with a vast wealth of experience.
There are 22 comfortable bedrooms, ranging from recently refurbished rooms with en-suite bathrooms to single basic rooms
