Manna Day Centre Company Information
General information
The Manna Centre was founded by Nannette French and opened to the homeless in 1982.
The Centre is based near London Bridge station and Guy’s Hospital. The building is provided rent-free by the RC Diocese of Southwark. Every day, between 150 – 250 people come into the Centre, for breakfast, lunch, or one of the many other services provided, and the details of our services are provided in the mission section. The Centre opens between 8.30am and 1.30pm every day, but the Centre workers need to arrive earlier, to prepare the Centre and breakfast for the clients.
The Centre is run by Director Bandi Mbubi and 10 paid staff, who work a rota so we can open 7 days a week, 51 weeks a year. Volunteers help in the kitchen.
The Manna Society is now a charity. Most of our income comes from donations from individuals and churches and from charitable trusts. We receive 15% of our income from the London Borough of Southwark, who finance some of our Housing and Welfare advice, including our special advice to EU 10 nationals. We are also grateful for the food donations we receive from schools and churches at Harvest festival.
We are happy to speak at your church or school about helping the homeless and our work.
