General information
The School Communication Arts, first founded by John Gillard in 1985, is an accredited, portfolio-building educational program for Creative Advertising (Copywriting and Art Direction). The current dean, Marc Lewis was one of Gillard’s scholarship pupils. After graduation he founded a UK Internet company that sold for £20m. He has also won numerous awards for innovation, and written two books on the subject.
As an establishment, School Communication Arts is a social enterprise, supported by volunteer mentors, and over 100 agencies. Some agencies donate money to fund scholarships. Some donate time. Some do both. Consequently, the students have a network of over 700 teachers. One third of these same students benefit from industry funded scholarships.
