8 million children worldwide are living in residential institutions or orphanages, separated from family life because they are poor, disabled or from an ethnic minority. This is a serious problem, on a massive scale, but there is a solution.
Lumos works in partnership with governments, professionals, carers, communities, families and children to transform outdated systems that force families apart. Together with our partners, we replace institutions and orphanages with community-based services that give children access to health, education and social care, tailored to their individual needs. We support families to ensure that these 8 million children are able to return to the love and care of a family.
