General information

The district of Nine Elms, stretching from Vauxhall to Battersea, is the final chapter of an extraordinary regeneration story for the South Bank, London’s ‘Third City’.

This is undoubtedly the most exciting new chapter in the story of London and quite possibly the last time the Capital will see the creation of such a completely new district, built where none existed before.

Once completed, Nine Elms will challenge the status quo enjoyed for so long by many other Central London districts such as Kensington, Chelsea and Bayswater for example. In its planning and architecture, the project benefits from the visionary thinking of one of the foremost
practitioners in the industry, Sir Terry Farrell.

Sir Terry was given the task of master-planning the regeneration of Nine Elms in 2009. In fact, the word ‘regeneration’ doesn’t adequately describe the masterplan. It’s a comprehensive transformation.

What makes the Nine Elms opportunity so compelling is that it’s virtually a blank canvas, a rare find in the centre of a world city.

The centrepiece of the new Nine Elms district is formed by Embassy Gardens. This is where the thinking behind the masterplan finds its most eloquent expression; a place of dramatic new commercial and residential buildings set in open, fluid spaces, that lifts the spirits and
creates an immediate sense of belonging.

Embassy Gardens lives up to its name with thoughtfully designed and landscaped public squares, parks and gardens radiating off the Linear Park – the soft backbone running through the whole of Nine Elms. This is a place designed to be lived, worked and wandered in.
