General information

Founded in 2010, the Greg Secker Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation committed to positively improving the quality of life of people around the world. Focusing on education, life skills and leadership initiatives, the foundation strives to equip communities with essential strategies for success. Our mission is to enable people to reach their full potential, thereby transforming their lives and ultimately their community.

What we do:

Support existing charities
We support charities with financial contributions and grants, in order to assist them in expanding their services. Amongst others, the Greg Secker Foundation is proud to work with Virgin Unite, Barnardo’s, Ubuntu Education Fund, Starkey Hearing Foundation, and House of Refuge Foundation, Inc.

As well as supporting other charities with financial contributions, we also have our own programmes:

Build a house, Build a Home
The Greg Secker Foundation is committed to creating a thriving community for victims of the 2013 Typhoon Haiyan that struck and devastated the municipality of Lemery in the Philippines. The project will build over ninety permanent homes with full access to utilities and essential life preserving services, but also goes much further by providing advanced “life and career” skills based education. We are focused on sustainable and holistic development. The project is currently in phase one, construction. Building works have taken place since April 25th 2016 and 20 houses are expected to be finished by July 2016. The remaining houses, training centre and viewing deck are scheduled to be completed by March 2017. We believe the project can contribute to the overall economic development of the municipality of Lemery and we are therefore focusing on using a local labour force and local suppliers. We will be bringing our experience from our educational businesses to the village for stage two of the project, namely the skills training and livelihood programmes. The foundation will also be partnering with the Central Philippine University in order for us to expand the services of our training centre and ongoing sustainability programme.

Youth Programmes:
The Greg Secker Foundation is dedicated to empowering young people and assisting them in reaching their potential. We have two youth programmes, the Youth Leadership Summit and Inspired Youth.

o The Youth Leadership Summit is a powerful five-day development seminar aimed at 13- to 17-year-olds, which includes days focusing on health, wealth, relationships, leadership, entrepreneurship, contribution and purpose. The week gives previously shy and untrusting children a great boost in confidence and it is staggering to see the changes that can occur in only a week. After the Success of the Youth Leadership Summit, Greg and his Foundation Team decided to raise the bar even higher and create the Young Leaders Festival. The festival is a cornerstone programme in which world-renowned speakers and coaches mentor young people, teaching them practical rich-thinking strategies and essential emotional development tools. Through our application process we spoke to hundreds of teens from all walks of life and income levels, attending the festival to break down the misconceptions that a successful, fulfilled life only happens to someone else in another community. We held Youth Leadership Summits in 2012 and 2013, and the Youth Leaders festival in 2014. In 2016 we decided to invest our knowledge from the events to bring a new programme to South Africa, Inspired Youth.

o The Greg Secker Foundation’s sponsored Inspired Youth programme is a one day workshop we have held in cooperation with Pride Factor (a life-skills academy dedicated to inspiring young minds), and that took place in Johannesburg and Cape Town in March 2016. More than 800 young people attended the workshops, which have been created to positively enhance the quality of life for young people around the world. Focusing on education, life skills and youth leadership initiatives, the aim of the workshops were to provide young people, regardless of background, with the strategies and confidence to achieve their full potential. The Inspired Youth Programme provides participants with access to the country’s leading young aspirational role models at motivational workshops – designed to equip them with the essential emotional mastery training to achieve the highest level of success.
