General information

Our management team has considerable experience in the 225-500kW wind energy sector, focusing primarily on medium-sized wind turbines. We are also investigating opportunities in other renewables including solar energy and biogas.

FRE plc was established to develop medium-sized wind turbine sites in Scotland, the North of England and Northern Ireland. FRE plc’s ability to acquire sites, obtain planning permission, install and connect turbines and to sell electricity generated to the local grid allows us to create high-yielding investment opportunities.

We have established relationships with landowners, farmers, developers, planners and energy companies across the UK. This allows us to identify early potential opportunities and to capitalise immediately on them.
Our wind turbine developments are designed to become long-term fixed assets with stable and recurring revenue streams. FRE plc has acquired a number of “shovel-ready” sites, which have planning permission, 25 year leases and grid connections. All energy generated from these sites will be sold into the national grid. The rates payable for the electricity generated are index linked and guaranteed by the UK Government for 20 years.

FRE plc has assembled a management team with considerable experience in the sub-500kW wind energy sector. We are now using that knowledge and in-depth market understanding to underpin our future development plans.

Our current focus is on wind, but we are also investigating opportunities in other areas of renewable energy such as solar, already well understood by the market, and biogas, an area where there is likely to be continued and significant growth in the UK. We have recently signed an exclusivity deal on an anaerobic digestion facility that breaks down organic waste into methane-rich biogas and fertiliser.
